3 more HR management and social dialogue workshops conducted during May, June & July

Continuing the SMART Management Systems Lab series, SMART Myanmar HR management trainers have led three group workshops on HR management and related workplace management topics between May-July. First, a special one day session was provided for local HR managers on workplace communications and social dialogue on May 3rd. This was intentionally and quickly designed at the request of several factories to assist them in preparation for the minimum wage increase; SMART trainers briefed factory managers on good practices for managing effective communications with workers and trade unions. This workshop was conducted by SMART technical experts Zar Chi Tun and Hsu Yin Win.

On May 11th & 12th SMART led a two day workshop with the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC). SMART Myanmar's Senior Technical Expert, Nancy Feng, conducted this workshop for directors and managers of Chinese owned firms on the topic Social Dialogue, Labour Laws and Managing Across Cultures. This event was filled to capacity with 50 participants joining and a waitlist of over 40 participants scheduled to join the next session, now tentatively scheduled for mid-October. This was the 7th time SMART led a workshop on the theme of bridging cultural and communications divides between foreign managers and local staff & workers. The new cooperation and expanded content of this workshop, thanks to ETI and CNTAC, was extremely beneficial, and SMART Myanmar aims to continue the topic in cooperation with ETI and CNTAC in a similar manner in the future.

On July 16th, 17th and 18th the HR training team conducted another 3-day "HR Management Level 1" workshop for HR managers and staff. Among the most popular workshops regularly delivered by SMART, 43 participants joined this interactive workshop session.

"The communication of the SMART team and the training contents are very good," said a participant from Myanmar Fortune Fashion

In total, 120 managers and staff from 67 factories joined at least one of these three workshops.
